Slugging Along March- Marches onThe end of the year is in sight, but there are still more days to be run. The race seems to be drawing out forever and the stack of papers never seem to get thinner.
Reflect. Pull out samples from the beginning of the year. Look at where you began. Look at where each student came in to your class.
Re-evaluate. Look at where they are now.
What processes have you taught well?  Which do you need to refine? Grammar, usage, past or present tence, voice, spelling, or genres?
What genres remain to come?  Response to Literature (analyzing author's purpose)?
Now, look up.  See where you came from, breathe, and begin the race again.
The end is in sight; the progress has been incredible. Each student has made progress in one or more areas of writing. Celebrate their successes; encourage their weaknesses.
The end is in sight. Run to win; run to empower!
